Being slightly frustrated about the bad music being played on the radio over the last few days, I decided to ask people on Twitter to nominate their favorite song of 2011 on #FavSongOf2011.

Many people submitted their favorite songs and after 3 days I have collected more than 150 nominations!! Here is a youtube playlist with all nominations created by @mkafando.

Based on the amount of comments and RTs a nomination got I managed to create this final list of 20 nominations.

Bij de laatste Social Media Club Amsterdam van 2011 heb ik een presentatie gegeven over Klout. Ik geloof niet in Klout. Niet als opzichzelf staande metric. En heb de afgelopen 2 jaar erg veel lol gehad in het busten van deze metric, en heb me verbaasd over het effect wat een hoge Klout score heeft op de ‘zichtbaarheid’ die dit je geeft als ‘digital influencer’.

Uiteindelijk gaat het om de kwaliteit van de content en het dialoog in social media netwerken. Dit is de kern van alles. De tools waar ik mee ben gaan spelen die kunnen helpen bij het versimpelen en versnellen van je workflow. Maar zonder de kwaliteit, is het allemaal nutteloos.

I love communication and I love creativity. Words or symbols can truly speak to your imagination or just trigger a smile. On the streets you find many signs or tags that can inspire just that. Either because they have a deeper meaning or because you can misinterpret them or because someone added to the original message in a creative way.

A Social Media Magic Moment | The News Finds Me!

Today one of those remarkable social media moments happened to me. A moment where you really experience how (social) media tools enable relevant news to reach you with the speed of light.

This morning the above article appeared in the Dutch national newspaper Spits. The spits is a free newspaper which gets distributed mainly at public transport stations in the whole country.

The article talks about the use on Twitter of the hashtag #DurfTeVragen (Dutch version of #DareToAsk). To embellish the article a screenshot of the feed is shown and incidentally a tweet of mine using this hashtag is in this screenshot and thus I appear with a cameo in this article :)

Now I was not at any station this morning to pick up a copy of the Spits but many of my followers were and they started tweeting me pictures taken with their phones of the article and telling me “Dude, you’re in the newspaper!”

This is why I love social media and Twitter in particular. News finds me!
